I am sorry

Please accept my apologies to my followers and collectors.

To make a long story short - I missed a registration deadline for a juried exposition occurring from October to January. It was very silly of me to assume that a competitive event would close on a Friday and not on a Thursday, hence, I mistakenly thought August 29th fell of Friday and I missed the deadline this week to submit my painting.

Some of you were very excited to see how well this piece would have performed in this competition and whether or not I would have been selected to participate. Needless to say that I am quite disappointment in myself for making this error. It was very unprofessional and an unnecessary mistake and now we have to wait a year.

This has been a hard lesson to learn (and swallow).

I have seen advertisements for this event every year in my community and was often a visitor to local artist studios. Over the years, I secretly dreamed of becoming a participating artist and this dream became a reality when I registered as a new member to Artest back in the spring. I regularly kept monitoring their webpage for announcement of this event. I spent the summer researching what my subject matter was going to be and I started to create concept sketches and small value studies in anticipation.

I was one of the early ones to register on opening day. I began to create my painting that day knowing that in 29 days I will be ready to submit its final photo. As the deadline approached and the painting started to take shape, I was feeling confident and brimming with excitement that I may even be a finalist.

And now - well - as the organizer politely told me - "Best of luck next year." Sigh.
